STANLEY YELNATS IV - CHARACTER ANALYSIS

                             PART II (Chapter 20-35)
After a while, he gets stronger.Digging holes doesn't hurt him as much as his first days at the camp. He has much more self confident. He doesn't concern himself with the opinions of the other boys. He becomes friends with Zero, who is the least popular kid and the fastest digger at the Camp Green Lake. The other boys think, that Zero has nothing in his head, therefore they call him Zero, but Stanley isn't in the same opinion. He teaches Zero, how to read and write and he realizes, that Zero is a very smart kid. When Zero runs away, Zero doesn't come back to the camp. After two days Stanley gets worried about him, so he goes  after him.

"He tried not to think about Zero. It was too late or either he made it to the god thump or..."

At the beginning of the book Mr.Sir says:''Nobody runs away from here. We don't need a fence. Know why? Because we've got the only water for a hundred miles. You want to run away? You'll be buzzard food in three days.''This shows, how dangerous running from the camp is. Stanley runs away even under this circumstances. Think about, how strong their friendship is.
